Dear Twin Cities Jewish Community,
For three years, the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and the United Jewish Fund and Council of St. Paul published Twin Cities Jewish Life and mailed it, free of charge, to 13,000 Twin Cities Jewish households. The newspaper, funded by the Harry Kay Charitable Foundation, informed, educated, entertained and empowered readers about issues of interest to the Twin Cities Jewish community.
The last issue of Twin Cities Jewish Life mailed September 8, 2005, when our publishing contract with MSP Communications ended. MSP served as a great publishing partner and helped produce a quality publication of great integrity. However,
producing six issues per year prevented the federations from making a significant publishing impact in the community. The cost per year also far exceeded the amount of advertising revenue earned.
In an effort to increase the newspaper’s frequency and provide a publication that would better meet the community’s needs, we pursued a new publishing contract—one that
we felt was more financially sound. We are sorry to report that we have not found a
suitable arrangement.
It has been a pleasure providing you with a newspaper that, we believe, helped build bridges across the Mississippi and strengthened Jewish engagement, culture and life in the Twin Cities. If any positive developments take place regarding the future publication of Twin Cities Jewish Life, we will communicate this to you. In the meantime, we encourage your feedback. Please feel free to contact Minneapolis Jewish Federation Executive Director Joshua Fogelson at 952-417-2363 or jfogelson@mplsfed.org, or United Jewish Fund and Council Executive Director Eli Skora at (651) 690-0227 or eskora@ujfc.org.
Sincerely,
