United Jewish Fund and Council

The United Jewish Fund and Council (UJFC) is the Jewish Federation of Greater St. Paul. Our mission is to unite, sustain and enhance the St. Paul area Jewish community and strengthen bonds with Jewish communities in Israel and around the world. The UJFC fulfills this mission through financial resource development and planning, and by working in partnership with social service agencies, educational institutions and synagogues.

The UJFC is a partnership of committed volunteers working together with a trained professional staff to coordinate the fundraising, endowments, planning, budgeting and leadership development for local and overseas beneficiary agencies.

The UJFC was formed as a result of a merger between two organizations – the United Jewish Fund of St. Paul and the Council of Jewish Social Organizations.

The United Jewish Fund of St. Paul, formed in 1935, served as the fundraising arm of the community. The Fund was charged with the responsibility of a single annual campaign for the Jewish community.

The Council of Jewish Social Organizations provided a common meeting ground for all Jewish communal organizations in St. Paul, to avoid duplication of services and to set priorities regarding growing needs in the community.

In 1943, the two organizations merged to form the UJFC, providing the St. Paul community with a local Jewish Federation.
